Whee! It’s a Wii!

Exercise for exercise sake has never appealed to me. I will happily work all day in the yard, digging, planting, weeding, pruning, mowing. But don’t ask me to go to a gym.

Today I finally had enough energy to set up my Mii on the Wii. That was amusing in itself. I toyed with turning myself into a tall, willowy blonde but figured that might be depressing.

I put in the Wii Fitness Plus disk and followed the on-screen directions. After inputting some data and doing some exercises, I was congratulated on my fitness age - 60. Right away I knew that this was the program for me.

Soon I was slaloming down a snow covered hill. My Mii reached the finish line and threw up her arms in triumph only to droop with disappointment when the score came up. I can handle not getting a gold medal but I do take umbrage at it telling me that I am “unbalanced”.

Who knew that exercise could be so much fun?

  1. And yes, I love the Wii. Loren brought home Resort Sports today since I love ping pong. Good for improving reaction time and eye-hand coordination. The Wii actually told me to take a break. I take that as a good sign.

Congratulations on starting your Wii Fit Plus journey. I'm still unbalanced all the time - and it is amusing to be told that you are unbalanced and then that you've achieved either the high score or your personal best. I hope you like it as much as I do.

I'm finding the Wii almost addictive. (This is good.) Although the scale does not seem the least bit impressed. Ah, well. Do you have the Wii Fit Plus with the balance board? So many choices, that it makes it easy to keep the routine fresh. I've given myself a 30 minutes/100 calorie minimum goal and a 60 minutes/200 calorie ideal goal. Yes - it is a good thing that it tells you to take a break. (Maybe we both need one of those reminders for when we garden. Actually - I do set a timer because otherswise I'm a mass of aches and pains the next day after gardening for a couple of hours.
