Playing in the Dirt Yet Again

I guess because we didn't have enough things to take care of we decided to have three yards of top soil delivered this afternoon. Our local garden center, Bremec on the Heights, has a small dump truck that can fit between the bump-out in the dining room and the enormous trees on the other side of the driveway. Before we would have it dumped at the front corner of the house which added more distance and time to move it to the backyard.

Our objective today was to fill in the sinkhole that periodically appears in the backyard. I wonder if there was a tree there decades ago. So while I was a lady who lunches, my Sweetie filled it in.

When I returned home, I tamped it down, added more soil, and then watered it in. (It can be seen in the following photo with a sprinkler on it.)

Our next project was to build onto the mound garden on the south side of the yard. We took turns loading the cart, dumping it (love that cart), and sculpting the new mound.

After dinner, I dug out the plants in an area that my Sweetie had removed the voracious ivy yesterday. We re-planted the Lady's Mantle and Siberian Forget-me-nots and watered them in.

I was amazed how much stronger I have become this summer. I was able to fill the cart, pull it across the yard, and dump it. We'll see if I pay for all this labor with sore muscles.

And there is still about 20% of the pile to move.

I Don't Feel Older
